Consciousness is a canvas that reflects our intentions painted in broad and finite strokes of the lives we live. Personal transformation has many points of entry. Illness, death, mental, physical and emotional abuse can shatter who you are and changes our purpose in life. Born gray in a black and white world is what forced me to traverse and examine who I really was. That is when my inner journey began because amid the civil rights riots, ravages of racism, the insuperable chauvinism I discovered a connection to my soul through the vista of Jazz culture. It was safe. It was liberating. It allowed full creative expression. Take a few minutes and watch this video before you lean into Saturday’s chores.
I realize that I can consciously handle but so much physical/visual attention from the outside world and I truly want to focus on the level of my soul where everything that happens in my physical/visual ego driven world has its roots. Everything in the universe and in the spiritual world are connected and become seen. Mindfulness meditation is how I learn and get in touch with myself. It is the instrument for my original relationship in life which is with myself. It requires patience, commitment, nurturing and a willingness to deal with discomfort, uncertainty and constant change. For me it is embarking on the journey to the center of my heart by recognizing and surrendering to where my deepest love story exists. The first and foremost way is by cultivating spaciousness in the heart which brings my desires and intentions into full presence. Developing awareness is refocusing sensory abilities from the physical outside world to the inside world, when turning my gaze inward and refocusing and listening to the quiet still voice inside gives new meaning to my human sensory capacity. This inward paying attention gives me access and creates a meditative state. This meditative state is also called the awakened heart because it is who we are underneath all of our identities. So starting today, I will begin my practice of attention and intention and begin the process of living my life from the inside out. How about you? How are you learning how to live? Peace Out! JBC 8-)
